Wilfred Odalo Named Kenya’s Best-Performing MCA

Mabatini Ward MCA Wilfred Oluoch Odalo has been ranked the best-performing Member of the County Assembly (MCA) nationally under the Champions Progress Ward Programme, according to a report released by Swiss Poll International.

The report commended Odalo for his performance in representing residents, championing development initiatives and serving as Chairperson of the Nairobi County Assembly Budget Committee.

The recognition comes as Odalo positions himself for a bigger political role ahead of the 2027 General Election, with the MCA expressing his intention to contest the Mathare parliamentary seat.

Odalo, who has served as the Mabatini Ward MCA for the past 14 years, said the recognition would motivate him to continue serving residents and expanding his development agenda.

“I am delighted today to receive this award. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the people of Mathare and the organizers for this recognition. It motivates me to continue doing my best in serving the people,” Odalo said.

On his parliamentary ambitions, Odalo said his experience in ward leadership and at the Nairobi County Assembly had equipped him with the skills and understanding needed to serve residents at the constituency level.

“Over the last 14 years, we have been doing well, and I want to promise my constituents that I shall endeavor to do even better when given the MP seat come 2027,” he said.

Odalo also highlighted his role as Chairperson of the County Assembly Budget Committee, saying he has worked to ensure Nairobi’s budget responds to the needs of residents.

The recognition is expected to boost Odalo’s political profile as he seeks to transition from ward-level leadership to constituency representation and take his development agenda to the wider Mathare constituency in the 2027 elections.
