Teso South MP aspirant Peter Imwatok Jateso today joined the family of the late Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Ekirapa to mourn the fallen officer, who lost his life while on duty in Garissa on October 9.

Imwatok also participated in a fundraising drive in support of the bereaved family, paying tribute to the late officer as a dedicated, courageous and diligent public servant who served the country tirelessly.

“I want to take this opportunity to condole with the family and assure them of my support. To the people of Teso South, we are together in this, and we shall remain vigilant to ensure that all benefits due to our brother and his family are processed without delay,” he said.

He added that the late officer’s contribution to the community would remain etched in the memories of the people of Teso South.

“The good things he did for our community shall forever be remembered. We also expect the National Police Service to accord him the respect he deserves as we lay him to rest,” Imwatok said.

ASP Stephen Ekirapa tragically lost his life on October 9 in Garissa in an incident involving a suspected improvised explosive device (IED).

As the family and community navigate this difficult period, the fundraising initiative provided an opportunity for residents and well-wishers to stand together in solidarity, compassion and unity while supporting the bereaved family.

The late officer’s service to the nation will be remembered, as messages of condolence continue to be extended to his family, friends, colleagues and the wider Teso South community.
