The Luhya community in Mountain View Ward has endorsed Kitusuru MCA Alvin Palapala for the Westlands parliamentary seat and Maurice Ochieng for a third term as Mountain View MCA in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking at St. Joseph Vocational Training Centre, members of the community said they were confident that the two leaders would transform the area, citing their track record in public service.

“Alvin is our next MP, and Maurice Ochieng will continue serving us as MCA for a third term. Alvin has been tested in Kitusuru, while Maurice has been tested in Mountain View. We are not ready to mix development and politics,” the community members said.

According to Maurice Ochieng, Alvin Palapala has demonstrated leadership potential and is ready to represent the people of Westlands in Parliament.

“In Westlands, our candidate is the ODM candidate, Alvin Palapala. We have worked very well with Alvin as my colleague in the Assembly and in Westlands at large. I believe that he is the correct leader to lead Westlands,” Maurice said.

He added that he would continue championing the interests of residents, particularly women, youth and marginalized groups.

“I will continue supporting our people and ensure that women, youth and the marginalized are taken care of,” he said.

Palapala, in turn, thanked the community for its support and pledged to pursue what he described as massive development across Westlands.

“I have heard you, and I will support you. We have business gear today; we shall start by giving umbrellas so that you can do your hustle safely. We shall also talk to your MCA, Maurice, so that we can also see how to empower our youths,” Palapala said.

The endorsements come as political activities begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 General Election, with leaders positioning themselves for various elective seats in Westlands.
