Earlier this month, TECNO, a global AI-driven technology brand, won two IFA Global Product Technology Innovation Awards at IFA 2026.

The awards recognised two of its products: the TECNO Modular Phone and the ultra-compact Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS (MEGA MINI G1 Pro).

The Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS won the Miniaturized Gaming PC Technology Innovation Gold Award.

It stood out for its Italian aesthetics and strong performance in a compact body.

Meanwhile, the TECNO Modular Phone won the Ultra Slim Magnetic Modular Technology Innovation Gold Award.

It was recognised for its ultra-slim design and unique magnetic modular technology. The awards add to TECNO’s growing reputation among Kenyan technology media and consumers.

They also highlight the brand’s push to move beyond its familiar Camon, Spark and POVA smartphones sold through local phone dealers.

These awards demonstrate TECNO’s continued focus on product innovation and design. The Global Product Technology Innovation Awards were established in 2014 by IDG, IFA and DIHK.

They recognise excellence across the global consumer electronics industry. The awards honour products that set new industry benchmarks.

They also recognise innovation through intelligent technology and user-centric design.

TECNO Modular Phone: The World’s Thinnest Modular Smartphone

At just 4.9mm, the TECNO Modular Phone is the world’s slimmest modular smartphone. It uses TECNO’s proprietary Modular Magnetic Interconnection Technology.

The system combines a precision magnetic array with pogo pin connectors. It creates a flexible ecosystem of 10 high-performance modules.

The modules are designed to respond to changing user needs. The host phone retains a 3,000mAh to 4,000mAh battery.

The modules draw power directly from the phone. This creates a snap-and-go experience. The portless unibody design also provides dust and water resistance.

The TECNO Modular Phone is set to enter mass production soon. This will be closely watched by Kenyan buyers who currently rely on local dealers for TECNO devices.

The phone is also designed as a physical gateway for personal AI assistants. It addresses the growing demand for AI computing power while keeping the device slim.

The technology has earned more than 20 accolades from leading media outlets. These include CNET, Android Authority, Yanko Design and The Verge.

CNET and Yanko Design named it among the Best of MWC 2026. The Verge also recognised it as the Best Mobile Tech at MWC 2026.

Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS: One of the World’s Smallest Water-Cooling Gaming Mini PCs

The Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS (MEGA MINI G1 Pro) is one of the world’s smallest water-cooling gaming PCs.

It has a volume of around 6.36 litres. Its vertical chassis features a panoramic transparent window.

The design combines Italian styling with high-performance engineering. The PC is powered by an Intel Core i9-13900HK processor.

It also uses an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card. The system delivers 614 AI TOPS and 145W TGP.

It also supports DLSS 4. The PC is designed for high-fidelity gaming and AI workloads. Its water-cooling system helps sustain peak frequencies under heavy loads.

It has 15 ports, including OCuLink and USB4. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E for connectivity. The design was previously recognised with a Best of MWC award by Yanko Design.

In addition to the two award-winning products, TECNO showcased other innovations at IFA.

These included the Next Gen Bezelless Concept Phone. The device features a 0mm screen bezel.

TECNO also showcased the convertible MEGABOOK T15 360 Pro laptop. Both are concept devices rather than retail products.

Kenyan buyers should therefore not expect to find them in local shops soon. However, TECNO has previously used flagship concepts to preview technologies that later appear in its mainstream products.

Some of these ideas could eventually find their way into the Camon and Spark ranges. For Kenyan consumers, the products offer a glimpse of the technologies and designs that could shape future TECNO devices.
