Teso South MP Mary Emase has hinted at retiring from elective politics ahead of the 2027 General Election, while openly endorsing Imwatok as her preferred successor.

Emase said she is considering stepping down from the Teso South parliamentary race and handing over the seat peacefully.

She described Imwatok as the candidate best placed to succeed her, citing his political maturity and development record.

“He is my son and I have done what I could. If you ask me, Imwatok is the best to take over from me,” Emase said.

The MP further praised Imwatok for his political experience, saying he has demonstrated leadership while serving Nairobi residents and should now turn his attention to Teso South.

“Imwatok has shown maturity, and we are telling him that the race is open and we shall support him. He is not new to politics. He has done well for Nairobi residents, and now it is his time to focus on home,” she said.

Emase also took a swipe at other aspirants, accusing them of lacking seriousness on matters of development.

She said Imwatok was the only candidate capable of building on and surpassing her development record in Teso South.

Her remarks are likely to alter the political dynamics in Teso South as aspirants position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
